The practice of medicine has in many instances now become a financially driven desire instead of following the protocols and promises of the Hippocratic oath.
Patients do not realise that they are consumers.- Doctors Dentists, Hospitals and other medical institutions are vendors. The above CPA Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 affords the patient extensive protection from malpractice, unfair treatment, ill treatment, unprofessional conduct and a host of other misendeavours a Medical professional or Vendor may impose on them. The Act gives the patient the right to protection from such treatment in far reaching laws included in the respective act. |
